Homegrown Power Electronics Breakthrough at Hyderabad Facility Aims to Boost Reliability of Fast Chargers for Domestic and Global Markets
Exicom Tele-Systems has begun manufacturing India’s first liquid-cooled AC and DC power modules for electric vehicle (EV) chargers, marking a significant milestone in the country’s EV charging technology ecosystem. The modules are being produced at the company’s newly inaugurated smart manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and are designed for both domestic use and export markets, including North America and Europe.
A First for Indian Manufacturing
Exicom has become the first Indian company to locally produce liquid-cooled power modules for EV chargers. These modules use liquid coolant to manage heat far more effectively than traditional air-cooled systems. Internal temperatures are maintained approximately 10°C lower, a critical advantage in high-power charging applications where heat is a major cause of component failure.
Industry data shows that a temperature rise of just 10–15°C can double the failure rate of power electronics. Nearly 60% of failures in this category are linked to thermal stress. By adopting liquid cooling, Exicom aims to deliver greater reliability, longer equipment life and consistent performance even in extreme weather conditions.
Technical Edge and Design
The liquid-cooled modules feature a sealed architecture that protects sensitive components from dust, moisture and salt-laden air. This makes them suitable for a wide range of environments — from hot and dusty inland sites to coastal locations. The design supports high-power DC fast chargers that operate for extended hours daily, meeting the rising expectations of charge point operators and fleet owners.
Leadership Perspective
Anant Nahata, CEO and Managing Director of Exicom, highlighted the practical need for the technology. “Anyone who has stood next to a fast charger on a 45-degree afternoon knows what heat does to electronics. EV charging is getting faster, with chargers running more hours a day, and customers expect them to work every season and at every site. Globally, liquid cooling has become the architecture of choice for high-power charging. We are bringing this technology to India,” he said.
Nahata emphasised that local manufacturing allows the company to engineer, improve and adapt the technology faster for both Indian and international customers.
Building on Tritium Acquisition
The development builds on Exicom’s 2024 acquisition of Tritium, an Australian specialist in DC fast-charging systems. The integration of Tritium’s liquid-cooling expertise with Exicom’s manufacturing capabilities has enabled the company to produce these advanced modules in India. Initial production is focused on Tritium’s DC charging portfolio, including the TRI-FLEX ultra-fast DC chargers and DC-FLEX systems.
Over time, the modules are expected to be incorporated into Exicom’s own Harmony range of DC chargers, creating a fully integrated offering developed and manufactured in India.
Hyderabad Smart Manufacturing Facility
Production is taking place at Exicom’s Hyderabad facility, which features automation, digital traceability and specialised testing systems. The plant is designed to meet global quality standards, supporting both domestic demand and export orders. The company sees this as a step toward establishing India as a competitive manufacturing base for advanced EV charging power electronics.
Market Implications
India’s EV charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly, driven by government targets, rising electric vehicle adoption and the need for reliable public and fleet charging. High-power chargers are particularly vulnerable to heat-related downtime, making liquid-cooled technology highly relevant.
By producing these modules locally, Exicom reduces dependence on imported components, shortens supply chains and creates the potential for technology exports. The company plans to supply charge point operators, fleet operators and original equipment manufacturers in India while also targeting international markets.

The launch of liquid-cooled modules positions Exicom as a technology leader in India’s EV charging space. As charging speeds increase and utilisation rates rise, thermal management will become even more critical. Local manufacturing of this advanced architecture strengthens the domestic supply chain and supports the broader goal of building a robust EV ecosystem.
With the Hyderabad facility now operational and the Tritium integration progressing, Exicom is well placed to scale production and introduce further innovations in power electronics for electric mobility.
